About David

David Strause is a lifelong Charlottean with a deep, firsthand understanding of how Charlotte lives, grows, and evolves. Having spent most of his life in Charlotte, and returning after over a decade in New York City, David brings a rare combination of local expertise and big-market experience that today’s buyers and sellers truly value.

David began in real estate in 1987 after graduating from UNC Chapel Hill, later earning his MBA and spending time working internationally. He went on to build a nationally recognized career in mortgage banking, including ranking as Wells Fargo’s #1 mortgage banker in the country for new construction lending, originating over $110 million in a single year.

This unique combination of real estate, finance, and development experience allows David to guide clients with a level of insight that goes far beyond a typical transaction. He understands not just how to buy or sell a home, but how to position, negotiate, and structure deals to maximize long-term value.

David is also a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist, a designation held by a small percentage of agents nationwide. This recognition reflects not just sales volume, but a proven ability to represent high-end properties with the discretion, strategy, and marketing sophistication they require.

Today, David works with discerning buyers and sellers across Charlotte’s most desirable neighborhoods, offering a thoughtful, strategic approach tailored to each client’s goals, whether that means finding the right home, securing an off-market opportunity, or positioning a property to achieve the strongest possible result. What sets David apart is his ability to create opportunities others simply don’t see, helping him give his clients access to homes and opportunities beyond the public market. In a competitive environment, that kind of access can make all the difference.

Outside of real estate, David enjoys staying active, spending time at the coast, playing tennis, and being involved in his son’s activities. He lives in South Charlotte with his wife, son, and their two energetic Jack Russells.

If you’re considering buying or selling in Charlotte, David would welcome the opportunity to guide you with expertise, discretion, and a clear plan for success.
